and a year later the communist regime fell. Coincidence? I think not. I was a straight A student until puberty stroke, but I’m still a geek at heart. When asked what I wanted to be when I’ll grow up, I replied with "Great!” – and then ended up at the Arts University 🤦🏻♀️.
I started a masters at 29
diving straight into visual anthropology (loved it), an Erasmus year in Perugia (loooved it) and a new life in Italy (still very much loving it). Is it mid-life crisis? Is it following one’s dream? Is the food really that great? Please, my parents would really like to know.
I love Sailor Moon
and natural wine, and astrology – in this precise order. The first taught me about values, laughter and the power of friendship, the second has enhanced all of the above, while the third adds a bit of mystique to the whole thing.
I can write in (almost) 3 languages
because Italian is still loading. I can get a bit ahead of myself and invent some new words or idioms, but I guess that just comes with the package of having a constant foreign language party in your head. Romanian & English are fully loaded, though.
I believe in collaborations
– especially the ones born out of seemingly random moments. I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today without the people I’ve met along the way and without the ideas we said yes to. There’s more to Connecting people than just a Nokia (RIP) catch-phrase.
The best piece of advice
I ever received was during a week-long Erasmus+ training in the middle of a forest in Orvieto. The training was about resilience, the participants were from all over the world & their stories I still carry with me. The advice was simple: fall in love with everything.
